When is the last time you’ve been to Detroit?!

When is the last time you’ve been to Detroit?!

When is the last time you’ve been to Detroit?!

On a bit of a stay cation just a few months ago, my wife and I fell in love with Detroit all over again!  We stayed right downtown at the Westin Book Cadillac, walked to PARC for cocktails and dinner…can you say PERFECT ambiance and delicious and ended the night in an ally and at the coolest little bar that we had to negotiate and wait our way into called the Bad Luck Bar!   The next day we walked to the Town House Restaurant for brunch and along the way watched the new QLINE drop off and pick up travelers and listened to people laugh and celebrate as they cycled on The Handle Bar Detroit ( a cycling bar!).  Yep! The city is back and the entertainment is there and drawing everyone, every culture and age in for the fun.   I don’t care where I travel on business or play when I say the word “Detroit” , there are inevitably people who scream out ; Comerica, Eastern Market, Lafayette Coney Island, Faygo , Better Made, The Renaissance, Greek Town!!! The connection and affection is electric and the loyalty runs deep!  Detroit,  The Motor City which is  known for cars, music, sports, food, festivals and so much fun is also known for it’s majestic architecture and custom built homes.   No one can argue that the architecture available in the city of Detroit is unsurpassed. The majesty and detail of the mini mansions that occupy the tree lined streets in the Palmer Woods, Boston Edison Districts, Indian Village, Sherwood Forest (so many more I can’t mention them all here) neighborhoods is near impossible to find today in new construction.   This city like many others, was severely impacted as a result of the crash and created a flood of vacant homes, foreclosures and short sales. Now, I am so excited to celebrate that the City of Detroit is back and it’s real estate values are being impacted by the flood of people that want to occupy this electric city on the comeback.   Take a peak next time you’re moving through the city and you will be so pleasantly surprised at all that it offers to it’s visitors and more importantly, it’s ride or die residents!
